Can 'blogging' bog you down at work?

Heather Armstrong (nee. Hamilton) worked as a web designer in a dot-com startup company in the United States. In 2002, she was fired from her job for writing parodies of her company experiences on her weblog (www.dooce.com). She wrote, and still writes, under the pseudonym of Dooce.
The ensuing newspaper write-ups and debate about privacy issues gave rise to the term "dooced," which, according to www.urbandictionary.com, means, "to lose one's job because of one's web site."
