Unjust and exagerated statement

Yesterday, headlines in the news was the statement of a US embassy official.
Malacañang objected yesterday to claims made by United States Charge d’Affaires to Manila Joseph Mussomeli that Mindanao is fast becoming the "new Mecca for terrorism" with the presence of some local and foreign terrorist organizations in the region. Majority lawmakers said the statement was an insult to the Philippines.

House Majority Leader Prospero Nograles and Reps. Robert "Dodot" Jaworski (Pasig City) and Florencio Miraflores (Aklan) said Mussomeli’s claim was very insulting because it made the Philippine government appear that it is not doing anything to neutralize suspected terrorists in the country, particularly in Mindanao.

Philippine Tourism Authority (PTA) General Manager and Chief Executive Officer Robert Dean Barbers cautioned Mussomelli against making hasty statements that Mindanao could be another Afghanistan due to his perceived lawlessness and extreme poverty in the island.

Barbers, who is from Mindanao, said that issuing such statement could only do more harm than good in the government’s effort in searching for a lasting peace with the Muslim insurgents.

It was really annoying and exagerated statement. He should not have generalized the whole island. Yes, it is our knowledge that terrorism is a treat to our country and but not as widespread to the whole island of mindanao as what he may be thinking. His statement no matter its true or not its still affect as in any ways.
